The Otta Cowboy boot combines authentic Mexican craftsmanship with premium goat leather and a luxurious suede lining for exceptional comfort. Featuring a durable Goodyear welted leather sole and subtle blue stitching, this boot offers both style and longevity. Each pair comes with storage bags and a small pot of Renapur to maintain its quality, making it a refined choice for those seeking expert-level footwear.

Handmade in León, Mexico, each pair is built in our family-run workshop using time-honored bootmaking methods passed down through generations. León—long known as Mexico’s shoe and leather capital—grew its reputation from colonial-era tanneries to today’s network of family ateliers around the Zona Piel (“Leather District”). That heritage shows up in every stitch.



How your boots are made

Hand-cut & skived: Patterns are cut from premium hides, then edges are thinned for clean, flat seams.

Hand-lasted: Uppers are pulled over wooden lasts for a glove-like instep and stable heel.

Goodyear welt construction: A stitched welt locks upper, insole, and outsole for durability and easy resoling.

Traditional pegging & nailing: Forefoot and shank secured with lemonwood pegs and brass nails—wood swells like leather to keep the hold tight.

Cork fill & shank support: Natural cork compresses to your footprint; a steel/fiberglass shank stabilizes the arch.

Stacked leather heel & finished edges: Heels are layered, shaped, burnished, and inked for a refined profile.

Traditional leather cowboy boot fit & wear-in-

Snug across the instep (vamp): That firm hold does the “locking” — toes should have a little wiggle room, not be jammed.

A little heel slip is normal: ~3–6 mm (⅛–¼") when new. As the insole and heel counter mold, the slip reduces.

True to size, not upsized: Most people who size up end up swapping down to their regular shoe size for the best hold.

Break-in window: Expect 3–10 wears. Heat and moisture from your foot shape the leather insole and cork filler; goat leather softens quickly, the suede lining helps.

First wears tips: Use proper boot socks, pull tabs only (no crushing the counter), and rotate days to let leather dry and set.




Leather sole: grip & caution-

Slick at first: A brand-new leather outsole is smooth; take extra care on wet, polished, or tiled floors.

Grip improves as it wears: After a few outings the forefoot/heel roughen naturally, pores open, and traction noticeably increases.

Speed it up (optional): A short walk on dry, rough pavement will micro-texture the sole; a cobbler can also add a thin rubber sole guard for extra grip without changing the profile.

Keep them dry initially: Avoid soaking the sole in the first weeks; let any moisture air-dry away from heat.




Care during break-in-

Light conditioning: After a few wears, brush off dust and apply a small amount of the included Renapur to nourish the goat leather (avoid over-oiling).

Use boot trees: Cedar trees help maintain shape, reduce creases, and pull moisture.

Long-term serviceability: The Goodyear-welted leather sole is fully resoleable by a competent cobbler, extending life for years.
